🔍 Business Analyst - AI & Data Analytics Focus
📍 Location: Alexandria, VA (Hybrid work options available)

We are seeking a Business Analyst to join our dynamic team in support of the Enterprise Data Analytics program for a federal agency. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in traditional business analysis along with a background in AI-driven projects, including working with data science teams, AI applications, or intelligent automation initiatives.

📌 Responsibilities/Duties

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and stakeholders, to capture and translate business needs into functional and technical requirements for AI-driven solutions.

• Support functional testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts, including validation of AI/ML model outputs and system integration testing.

• Conduct interviews, workshops, process reviews, and surveys to determine functional and end-user requirements.

• Lead documentation and analysis of business processes and identify areas where AI technologies (e.g., NLP, intelligent automation, predictive analytics) can improve operations.

• Gather and document reporting requirements from business owners and end users and work with BI developers on wireframes and mockups.

• Perform data analysis using SQL and work with architects to provide input to data models and ETL processes, especially for AI model training and evaluation.

• Manage and refine user stories and backlog items, especially those related to AI/ML lifecycle.

• Ensure that AI solutions align with business objectives, are explainable, and comply with data governance and ethical standards.

🎓 Experience and Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in business analysis and requirements gathering, including 1-2 years supporting AI or data science projects.

• Strong understanding of Agile development environments.

• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar collaboration tools.

• Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis.

• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts such as supervised learning, NLP, classification, and model evaluation.

• Exposure to AI tools and applications such as chatbots, intelligent document processing, or predictive analytics platforms.

• Excellent communication skills-able to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with BI tools (e.g., OBIEE, Tableau, IBM Cognos, Business Objects) is a plus.

• Federal project experience and/or familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) is preferred.

🏫 Education/Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Scrum Master certification is a plus.

• Certifications in AI/ML, data analytics, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) are a strong plus.
